Tēnā kōutou, I’m Clementine Hastings, a child-centered play therapist intern, and a registered teacher. I have had many years experience working with children and I have been a teacher at a local community-based setting in Wānaka since 2021. Through my experience as a teacher I value the importance of building strong partnerships with whānau and building strong and trusting relationships with tamariki.
I began my play therapy journey in 2024 with Child Play Works and I am based in Wānaka where I see children in a specialised playroom. I moved to Wānaka in 2017 where I worked as a ski instructor at Treble Cone and Cardrona. Outside of work you’ll find me enjoying the outdoors, whether it’s hiking to stay at a DOC hut or out on a ski tour mission.
Child-centred play therapy supports children to explore and process their experiences alongside the presence of a therapeutic relationship. This enables children to process their feelings and emotions, allowing them to make sense of their world and their experiences so that they can begin to feel better about themselves. Through this process children will have more self-esteem and confidence and I believe that Child-Centred Play Therapy truly allows a child to flourish.

A child is a treasure, to be nurtured, to grow, to flourish.
